"There's the story of the name, of German origin, which people often ask about and which I don't talk much about," confides the artist. It all started with a childhood memory: small polystyrene planes he used to assemble, and which he found again years later as a stock from Germany. "I received hundreds of them, which I shared with my friends. From there, a video was born, Build a Plane, the starting point of my reflection. This memory made me create new ones, which I captured on film. The project became Baueneinflugzeug — build a plane. This word needs to be explored, I like that."

This intimate journey takes us through landscapes that are sometimes familiar, sometimes mysterious. Romain Villate guides his reader through diptychs, silences, and white spaces that become metaphors for an inner journey.
