Description

In this fifth bilingual issue:

  • From New York to Bristol, passing through Marseille, Pantin, and Paris, we explore multiple visions of the future of housing by inviting ourselves into eight apartments that are as diverse as they are complementary. A future made of ultra-technical but durable materials corresponding to the utopian images conveyed by science fiction works. A retro-future with organic forms reminiscent of psychedelic 70s comic books. A future of juxtaposition, of grafting, where contemporary objects like a "bento box" inspire the creation of modules that integrate into antique interiors. Or even a very current future that plays out in the conservation and enhancement of traces and materials from the past.
  • We are interested in the future of our cities through the place we give to the new generation of inhabitants in our special report "Children in the City". Because a city that is hospitable to children is a hospitable city full stop. We explore the evolution of their place, the experimental solutions imagined to make cities a playground conducive to their development, and we give a voice to families who tell us about the constraints or, on the contrary, the opportunities they see in raising their children in the city. One thing is certain: since they are there, they must be taken into account.
  • We also invite ourselves into the homes of two personalities who combine their art with the future and, through their work, contribute to renewing these emotion-generating machines that our cities are. Social media star chef Julien Sebbag reveals his new apartment designed with his architect friend Julien Sebban, founder of the Uchronia agency, an interior full of delicious shapes, materials, and colors, just like his recipes. Étoile dancer Germain Louvet poses in his interior, adhering to our team's brief "ballet and domesticity" (SIC). He tells us about his journey, talks about dance as a precipitate of urban life, and shares his questions about this art shaped by a long tradition.
